I came here with my partner for the matchmaking festival, expecting to enjoy a nice weekend of dining and dancing, but oh what a letdown. I have never seen such a scratched laminate floor! We tried to go in to to the restaurant for dinner but were told by a waitress, named Vanessa, that were two minutes too early and to come back later. We presumed she was having the craic, but she was genuinely serious.
When we came back, ten minutes later, the restaurant was almost empty, so it was hard to fathom why we were not allowed in earlier. Apparently though, we had irritated this young lady and she very begrudgingly took our order.

Ireland is an island comprising the countries of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland , the latter of which is part of the United Kingdom. People all over the world have pictures of Ireland that live in their imaginations. When they think of the Emerald Isle, it is of rolling green farmlands outlined by snaking lines of grey stone walls, tidy white thatched cottages with bright painted doors, whitecapped waves crashing against the impressive Cliffs of Moher, or the brick houses of Belfast with sectarian slogans printed on them and British soldiers patrolling the rubble-strewn streets.

My name is Willie Daly and I am a third generation traditional Irish matchmaker: a gift I inherited from my father and his father before him. On the west coast of Ireland, just a few miles from Lisdoonvarna in County Clare , I live on a small elevated farm with horses, ponies and donkeys within view of the Cliffs of Moher , the wild Atlantic Ocean of our own Liscannor Bay and the beautiful, spellbinding, magical Burren.
I have been matchmaking for over 50 years and am proud to say I have matched over couples in my lifetime. Matchmaking is in my blood and I am fortunate to have inherited the skills of my father and grandfather. Like them, I know instinctively what makes a good match. The traditional tools I use are intuition, subtlety, and an understanding of human nature.
